I was born in Aruba in May 1976 and went abroad to study pharmacy and returned to Aruba in 2004 with a doctoral degree in Pharmacy. I wanted to return to my home and use my studies to make a positive difference for the people of my Island. I am an environmentalist with an entrepreneurial spirit which lead me to open my first company that collected used cooking oils to make biodiesel. My passion for agriculture is the driving force behind the creation of 297 Farm, which is the first indoor hydroponic farm in Aruba. I am also the co-founder and current President of United Farmers Aruba Association (UFA). And through these learned experiences I have come to realize the importance of circular economy in small island states.
