About

In this episode we follow Teun as he explores the topic of food security on Aruba while trying to organise a farmer’s market.

Despite its desert-like climate there is a huge potential for growing food and yet the island heavily relies on imports making it extremely vulnerable to shocks.

What needs to change to increase food security? Join us to the Caribbean and find out with us.

About the project and the Phito Stories:

Phito is developing an app to support small and medium-sized farmers, who too often don’t have the same opportunities as large farmers, especially when it comes to technological innovation. But Phito is about more than building an app. Over the past few years, we’ve travelled across Europe.

e and the Caribbean, meeting farmers, listening to their stories, and learning about their challenges, hopes, and visions for the future of farming.

We met incredible, inspiring people and now we wanna share their stories with you. That’s why we’re launching Season 1 of the Phito Stories. Join us as we explore Europe’s and the Caribbean’s food systems and meet the people behind our food.

What is Phito Stories

PhitoStories is part of the Phito project, which supports small and medium-scale farmers in making informed decisions through the Phito App.

But agriculture is more than just technology—it’s about the people, their stories, and the journey from farm to fork. Behind every meal, there are farmers, traditions, and innovations shaping the future of farming.

PhitoStories is here to share those stories. Through the Phito Radio Show and the Phito documentary series, we take you into the world of farming, where real people face real challenges. These stories inspire, inform, and deepen our understanding of how agriculture shapes our everyday lives.
