Consorzio di bonifica Delta del Po

The Po Delta Reclamation Consortium, due to very particular geomorphological characteristics, has as its fundamental task the activity of hydraulic reclamation, particularly burdened by the problem of the average subsidence of more than two meters above sea level, while the irrigation activity, which it affects almost the entire district, it is particularly intense and demanding in some areas where horticulture is practiced and in areas where rice fields are cultivated.

In addition to the fundamental ordinary and extraordinary maintenance activity of the public works under management, considerable effort is dedicated to the design and execution of the public works under concession from the State and the Region and the mandatory reclamation works of private competence.

According to emerging needs, provision is also made for the execution of highly urgent interventions required above all by the collapse of buildings or dangerous landslides of banks or by serious electrical or mechanical structural failures of the electromechanical works functional to the lifting of filtration and rain water which can compromise hydraulic safety and public safety, generally following exceptional weather events.

In addition to these “traditional” actions, taking into account the particularity of the territory, the Consortium, under a specific regional concession, has carried out irrigation-environmental works such as the anti-salt barriers on the Po di Gnocca, on the Po di Tolle and on the Adige, the restoration of the hydraulic works damaged by the effects of subsidence and others concerning urgent and undeferrable interventions on the hydraulic network, as well as historical-cultural works such as the Ca’ Vendramin Land Reclamation Museum.

About Consorzio di bonifica Delta del Po

The Po Delta Reclamation Consortium participates as a Food System Partner and contributes to the creation of an inventory of the needs and capabilities of SMEs to best contribute to the design of the PHITO app.

It will describe the needs of food system users in order to obtain a practical assessment of the characteristics of the local community.

The experiences of these farms will be complemented by drawing on other examples of SMEs making intelligent use of best practices and new frontiers in agricultural production, or of climate-smart production tackling two challenges at once: climate threat and economic disadvantages.
