User-Centered Design: User Persona workshops

PHITO revolutionizes EU agriculture with user-centered app design. Collaborating with SmartFarming BV, we delve deep into farmers' needs for innovation.

At PHITO, we are not just developing an App; we are designing a solution tailored to the diverse needs of farmers across the EU. In our quest to revolutionize agriculture and empower farmers, through extension App development, understanding the users at a deeper level is paramount.

What is Happening?

That is why PHITO employs a user-centered design (UCD) approach and research to App development. With SmartFarming BV, a partner in the PHITO project being expects in UCD design and app developers, we delve deep into the roles, challenges and needs of farmers and other stakeholders, ensuring that the App meets their unique requirements effectively not leaving out its user-friendlines.

Our journey to the App development begins with comprehensive user research. User persona and profiles development is the first step to the user research after which further research will be done through data collection from surveys and focus group discussions. Through persona workshops, we engage with food system partners gaining valuable insights into their world and contexts.

Who is involved?

Representatives from eight food system partners have collaborated with us on different dates and times, providing insights on diverse landscapes of agriculture in the EU. The outcome of these workshops unveils key stakeholder categories, including private companies or individuals, government bodies, farmer associations, and educational or technical institutions.

Results in the making…

Surprisingly, direct links between farmers and universities are minimal in most countries. Additionally, it was discovered that many farmers rely on traditional methods highlighting the pressing need for innovation in the agricultural sector.
