About the Delta del Po food system.

Covering 62,780 ha of mostly farmland (80% smallholder) in the Po river delta. Characterised by lowland cultivations, farmers are faced with a diverse set of challenges including subsidence, flood risk, and soil salinity. Irrigation by river water is common, yet susceptible to drought conditions leading to salt water intrusion. Digital data could play a crucial role in the adaptation by SMFs in the face of extreme events and environmental pressure; attracting more potential to the farming sector.
